Where Is The Newborn King?
A short Baroque cantata for Epiphany, but just as effective for a lessons and carols service. SATB, soloists, two C Instruments (violins), and organ (optional cello continuo).
Length: 6 - 7 minutes.
Say, where is he, the newborn King of Israel?
Where is the newborn King of Glory?
In Bethlehem, in the land of Judah.
For we have seen His star arising, leading us onward, and have come to adore Him.
Lying within a cattle stall; born of a maid, yet Lord of all. Alleluia..
O worship and adore him, let us worship and adore him,
Come let us see the babe so small.
He is the King of all kings who shall reign over all.
He is the King of all kings who shall reign over all, yet lying within a rude stall,
The Lord is he, Savior of all.
O my Jesus, Thou King of Glory, Lord of all. My God, and my Savior.
How brightly shines the Morning Star!
All nations see and hail afar, and hail afar,
Thou David's son of Jacob's race,
the bridegroom and the King of grace,
Rejoice, ye heavens, and earth reply, let praises resound and fill the sky.
For this great gift we Thee adore,
this day, henceforth, forevermore, Alleluia.
