Description
English composer of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Somervell was pupil of C.V. Stanford at Cambridge, and CHH Parry at the Royal College of Music, where he was subsequently a teacher from 1894 to 1901. He composed prolifically and was knighted in 1929.
