Max Reger
Birth / Death Dates
1873 – 1916
Description
Johann Baptist Joseph Maximilian Reger was a Bavarian-German composer, conductor, pianist, organist, and teacher. His compositional style represents the continuation of the tradition of Beethoven and Brahms, with influences from both the harmonic worlds of Liszt and the formal structures of the Baroque. His organ works exhibit a severe contrapuntal style, and he is said to have remarked, "Other people compose fugues -- I live inside them."
