Description
Pearsall was a self-taught English Romantic composer and lawyer. Pearsall practived law until 1825 when he went to Germany for his health, where he took up composition. He became engrossed in the English madrigal school during a visit back to England in 1836 and his fame rests on 60 or more fine madrigals and part-songs, in addition to works for both the Anglican and Roman Catholic churches. He was also an accomplished translator.
