Description
SAB and organ (or piano). Text from the Liturgy of St. James, cf "Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence."
Notes: A simple and short 3 part anthem suitable for communion which can be performed effectively by equal voices. Think of the piece in two bar legato phrases, building up and dying away as in bars 11 and 12.
Lyrics
Let all human flesh keep silence,
and with awe and reverence stand,
Ponder nothing earthly minded,
for with blessing in his hand
Christ, our God, descends from heaven,
Our full homage to demand.
King of Kings, yet born of Mary,
As of old on earth he stood,
Lord of Lords, in human vesture,
In the Body and the Blood,
He will give to all the faithful
His own self for heavenly food.
