Notes: A strong song of Mission to wake up the church and send them on their way proclaiming the Good News. Make sure your choir sings this anthem with the energy and enthusiasm of an evangelist, not the stagnancy of a committee. Consonants at the start and end of words need to be heard particularly in the word ‘go’. Before rehearsing it is worth drawing the attention of the lower parts to the underlay in verse 2.

O Church of God, awake!
God's saving news to all the nations take.
Proclaim Christ Jesus, Saviour Lord and King,
That all the world his worthy praise may sing.

God's love embraces all;
He will in grace respond to all who call.
How shall they call if they have never heard
The gracious invitation of his word?

Where still the darkness lies,
In wealth or want, the sinner surely dies:
Give us, O Lord, concern for heart and mind,
A love like yours which cares for humankind.
