Description
French composer of the Baroque era. Charpentier was a prolific and versatile composer, producing music of the highest quality in several genres, including works for the stage in collaboration with Molière. His mastery in the composition of sacred vocal music was recognized and acknowledged by his contemporaries. He composed the famous Te Deum in D Major, the Prelude to which has become a favorite at weddings.
